1. Realize your condition.
Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
2. Realize the penalty of your sin.
Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Revelation 20:14 “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.”
3. Realize that Jesus Christ paid the penalty of your sin.
Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
4. Realize that Jesus ALONE can save you.
Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”
5. Call upon Jesus Christ to save you.
Romans 10:9-10 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
Sample prayer: “Dear Jesus, I know that I am a sinner. I know that sinners deserve to die for their sin. I know that you died in my place and paid for my sin. I now trust you alone to save me. By faith I accept your free gift of eternal life in heaven. Thank you for saving me. Amen.”
